‘Dirty Socks at That’: While Almost Everyone in the US Is Enjoying an Early Christmas, Florida Is Stuck With the GOP

As many already know, the Democratic Party of the US had a sweeping victory over the GOP. However, while many states are celebrating the much-needed change that several states wanted, that is not the case for Florida. Unfortunately for some, the GOP remains in power in the state, and this has brought down the morale of many locals, with some even claiming they are planning to move to one of the new blue states.

GOP Rep. Byron Donalds wins Florida governor’s race, becoming the state’s first Black leader

While this isn’t news anymore, one of the few states that remains red is Florida, as expected by many, sadly. In the Senate, Ashley Moody won, although by a very close margin, and Byron Donalds became the state’s first black leader from the GOP.

Despite many already expecting the above results, some were surprised to see that the race in all areas was extremely close. In truth, this is the positive side of the midterm: people showed that they are willing to see a huge change in the state and put the Democratic Party at the front.

With all of that, Florida locals have been sharing their opinions about what transpired in the state, and it seems the majority are sad about it. In a recent post that moderators sadly removed, some Redditors compared the midterm outcome to an early Christmas for other states and a bleak situation for those in the Sunshine State. The Republicans still represent the state, at least in its majority; voters elected someone from the GOP for the Senate. Even Amendment 3 passed, which is something people were fighting against. Naturally, this has brought morale down for many residents.

Florida Redditors Are Sad About the November 3 Results

All over the internet, the majority of states that went from red to blue have been celebrating, posting things about change, and even sharing their surprise, as some never thought to see their state shifting so much. On the other hand, those in Florida are just bummed out about what happened during Election Day.

“We got dirty socks at that.”

“I feel for everyone in Florida.”

Some, however, tried to look at the bright side, as this time, the results were extremely close.

“There are some silver linings. No more GOP supermajority in the state house.“

And while there are some positive outcomes of all of this, especially in other states, those in Florida might not see a lot of change, at least for the time being.
